1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. From the anals of history By J. Chambers If you're old enough, you may remember watching Art Linkletter's House Party on TV in the 1950s and 1960s. In one segment of the show called "Kids Say the Darndest Things," the host asked young children some questions. In their youthful innocence and naivete, their answers were often hilarious. Apparently some of these kids went on to college and studied under the author, now a retired college history professor, and they're still putting their foot in their mouth. In Professor Larew's compilation of student bloopers over the years, I learned some interesting facts, including:* Yahweh was the Hebrew god in the Sianide Peninsula.* Joan of Arc was burned at the steak as a which.* World War I started after the assassination of Archduck Ferdinand.* One of the problems of the underdeveloped countries is that they are illerant. [Apparently illiteracy is a problem in the developed countries too!]* During the Great Depression, the CCC helped create more forests, fought fires, and worked on damns.* One student explained his poor exam grade thusly: "I blame this on a majority of factors, namely the arrival of spring and the fact that I had to get a job. Also the arrival of Haley's Comet."The author concluded the book with a few bloopers of his own.It's a fun read, but there are some real groaners, knowing that the bloopers were made by young adults who had already completed twelve years of schooling, yet still made such egregious errors in spelling, grammar, and general knowledge.It's an hour or two of good reading, especially with the author's personal asides following most bloopers.

Your smile of the day By Lyn Alexander This little book – it IS little, 47 printed pages – does not sneak up on you, it smacks you sideways with the hilarious bloopers created by students and professors over the years, and a few committed by the author himself. I fully enjoyed each little anecdote.A word of reassurance. Contrary to the introduction, the world is NOT going to hell in a handbasket. These bloopers were generated over many years; and these really really dumb students are not typical of university students of today or any other day. These are the exceptions, not the rule.I recommend Luther wholeheartedly. Unless you yourself are one of those students, you will enjoy it too. If you ARE one of those students, you probably won’t understand.(Smiley face here)
