A must for any serious Darin fan or collector. While I don't agree with Mr. Shane's opinions on some recordings as he writes in his introduction readers are free to disagree and his thoughts are certainly thought provoking. Mr Shane's book is obviously a labor of love as well as respect for the singer and the body of work he left behind. I can't recommend this book too highly.

Outstanding Resource About the Career and Recordings of Bobby Darin By Brenda This is truly a superb book that focuses on Bobby Darin's unequivocally brilliant and prolific career and his development as a recording artist--would highly recommend this to any Bobby fan who is curious about Darin's artistic evolution and/or looking for an insightful and interesting read to genuinely appreciate the enormous scope of what Bobby did accomplish and experiment with in his very short time with us (Bobby passed away at age 37 from rheumatic heart disease, and because he knew all too well that he would not live a long life, this grim prognosis rather relentlessly drove him to accomplish well beyond his utterly remarkable intrinsic genius and passion for entertaining.) I very much enjoyed reading the author's words/ perspective about Bobby-- and it is quite evident how meticulously researched this book is. Bobby would be extremely proud! (And having dabbled in the visual arts, may I also comment that the cover jacket is very elegant also !)

By CGroovy75 Thoroughly readable reference book detailing the brief, yet prolific (and profound) career of the multi-talented Bobby Darin. Thoroughly researched (and accurate) - a must-own for musicologists and Darin fans alike. Belongs in the library of every fan of Bobby's, and simply fans of pop/swing/country/funk/blues and every other genre he touched on! Admittedly, I love the details about the studio sessions, etc., but it also covers his TV appearances and Film Appearances (it's a much needed update on the excellent "That's All: Bobby Darin on Record, Stage and Screen" by Jeff Bleilel - last updated in 2004). Well-thought out and logical explanations interspersed with hard facts. Thank you, Dr. Brown!
