About the Author Considered one of the most prolific writers working in modern fiction, USA Today bestselling writer Dean Wesley Smith published far more than a hundred novels in forty years, and hundreds of short stories across many genres. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Excellent By Kindle Customer Worth the cost. Helpful for self assessment. Blunt. I can see why tender egos could have issues with this knowledge. There's never an end to learning storytelling. It's just a fact. When a professional takes the time to explain the basic path, it's useful to listen. Dean thankful has habits of paying it forward and myth breaking.

I, in the end, found myself not agreeing with most of what he said. I have known stage four writers and they do edit. The days of Harlan Elison and Heinlien submitting without revisions are gone. Even Stephen King takes years on his books.I think that he does try to bring about a logical progression. I just am not sure that I agree with his examples.
