7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. A Must Read By Kat Taylor I had the pleasure of reading the story before its official release and I loved it. Ellie Albright is a spunky heroine. Her love of her prize horse lands her in a tight situation. Stable=girl by day, Society woman by night, Ellie has her hands and her heart full keeping her roles straight when dealing with Lord Hugh. I enjoyed the story very much.

I'm so glad I read this book, especially since it's not the typical historical romance. Don't let the lovely cover fool you. The story had a more Gothic feel to it.I read this book in no time. I was caught up in Ellie's escapades. I liked that she was proactive when things seemed wrong at her house and she was willing to go to extreme lengths to get back her beloved horse. There were moments when I laughed, cringed, was worried and anxious. There were almost moments when I needed to fan myself, because they were so hot! I was a more than a little amazed by Hugh and his incapability to see Ellie behind her costume when he professed to love the stable girl version of her so much. I also really liked the suspense/mystery aspect of the story even though it wasn't very clear why Ellie's family was targeted. I'm guessing the mystery will be spread out over the remaining books in the series.This book is sort of reminiscent of Gothic novelist Victoria Holt. If you're a fan of romances with twists, then this book is for you. I'm looking forward to the next installment in the The Albright Sisters series. I can't wait to see what Elf Ahearn does!

Ellie is the first sister to have her story told. I have to say I adored Ellie, she funny, independent, spunky, smart, charismatic, and has no problem going against the rules of high society to do what makes her happy and helps her family. She loves horses and is very good with them. I too love horses so I enjoyed reading about their training and racing. I admired this girl for the lengths she would go through to help her family. She does a lot of things in order to protect her family and their home. Ellie is quite the brave young lady.Ellie's relationship with Hugh Davenport is complicated to say the least. I had such fun reading the scenes between these two, they have a chemistry that is all their own.Hugh Davenport has issues from his past that complicate his relationship with Ellie. These two have a few obstacles to over come in order to find their way together. There is a lot of drama and mystery that unfolds during Huge & Ellie's story. It kept me turning pages to see what was going to happen next.I'm anxious to read the other Albright sisters' stories, I will be looking forward to see what Elf Ahearn has in store for Ellie's sisters. If you enjoy a historical romance with some mystery and drama thrown in the mix, I think you will like this one.
