I have to admit that I just had to pick this book when I saw the owl dressed up in suit. It is the size of a children’s book and at first I thought that was it was. But instead it is for all ages to treasure. Portraits of animals dressed as humans and short funny biographies of each one. This book is a perfect as a gift for a person in the hospital. With the constant interruptions and large probably of pain, it is difficult to read anything deep. Why not give someone an entertaining book that doesn’t require much concentration. The illustrations are adorable and encourage a little bit of fantasy.Or you could give it to a child who loves animals or a person who loves animals.

Johnson Only one quibble with this book: no dogs, except possibly the Lone Wolf that closes out this charming and quirky collection. i'm a dog person so that's just personal preference, but I love all animals and have written about them. There are six sections in this short but terrific book:--Social Butterflies--Worker Bees--Odd Ducks--Top Dogs--Black Sheep--Lone WolfThe animals look just like us in their attitudes and clothing. The text is clever. Example from "The Loquacious Lion" who wears a brown suit and pink cravat: "After years of compliments on his luscious locks, this lion launched the Mane Man, his dream salon and hair care line. His eye for hair is only matched by his nose for gossip."Another great example is "The Crafty Chipmunk," he of the lumberjack's cap, suspenders and flannel shirt: "Engraving edibles became his nine to five, but his passion project is a life-size wooden replica of Babe the blue Ox."I love "The Mystifying Meerkat" with his aviator gear--no Timon from Lion King, he. "He's also a Dixieland pianist, skilled painter, and owner of the world's largest model Porsche collection, but he traded it for a biplane and a candy bar."A great unique gift for any animal lover.

Hill The pages of this small carefully crafted book invite the reader into a world of animals that are not only smartly attired but in possession of interesting backstories. Created by artist Ryan Berkley and his wife Lucy, adults are gently lured back to a long forgotten childhood where animals live fantastic lives and act in profoundly uncharacteristic ways.In the text there exists a nugget of truth which allows the reader to connect to the story. Known traits of the animal are exploited to an absurd level, and words are shamelessly twisted. The Cultured Cow escapes the comfort of the pasture to live in a Brownstone in Jersey, dressed in pearls, now a patron of the arts. The Powerful Pig turned hog boss in real estate, specializing in revitalizing neighborhoods from “sty to stylish.”A quiet and charming anthology of enchantingly illustrated beasts with clever thumbnail sketches of their lives, this book feeds the imagination and for a moment allows daily struggles to fall away.
