Born in the flames of Heaven’s wrath, he’s all things sinful and too dangerous to love. An immortal guardian of the human race, Aethan has walked alone for millennia, trapped in a hell of his own. Until a feisty mortal crosses his path. A female he shouldn’t even look at, one who shakes the precarious foundations of all that he is, and one who’s determined to walk the edge of danger. All her life, Echo Carter wanted “normal”, an impossible feat given that she can see demons. Drawn back to the alleys of New York, she’s determined to hunt down the one responsible for the death of her friend. And no man, no matter how sexy, will stop her. Until she discovers a horrifying truth about herself, forcing her to turn to the one man she should avoid. Aethan. But when two stubborn wills collide, a dangerous passion ignites… As evil closes in, Aethan has to overcome his darkest fears and claim Echo as his. If he doesn't, he just could lose her to a far more sinister fate… *This is a re-edited version with an added epilogue.

Review The storyline is solid, tense, and well thought out. I was pulled in immediately, before I finished the first page, and the book held my interest all the way through, without letting up a single time. Absolute Surrender is a good, solid story, the kind you can sink your teeth into--one you'll want to keep on your shelf and come back to visit again and again. - Regan, reviewer

Good debut novel By Amazon Customer First of all, kudos to the author for trying something different with an angel/demon story. There were a lot of things I liked about it. I loved the mythology.Loved Aethan. I can't tell you much about him because I would spoil the book, but basically he's from a race of mutant angels. I think? The other guardians - Blaez and Tyr, Michael and yeah, even Dagan - all great characters and I loved them. You could feel the brotherly love between them, they act like a small family.Echo annoyed me with her insecurities and just being a major PITA for the majority of the story.Aethan tells her he wants her, and she just doesn't hear it. I swear, I constantly wanted to smack her on the head. Nothing she did in this book made much sense to me, she was so irrational and hot-headed it couldn't make for a likable female character. And for the most part, her character was inconsistent.I just sort of ignored her.But Kira kicked ass. I loved Kira. It's major insta-love between these two - but then again, it works with the concept of the story. The truth is, it's the writing that put me off majorly in this bookThere are a lot of POV characters. It felt like the author introduces a character and then you get a few sentences from their POV. It's just so you know what's going on on the other side, too. There is some major overuse of words mate, female and male. And then you get the last ten percent of the story, and it's all very rushed. The story is really on the long-ish side, and I wished I had gotten a proper ending, not just hastily tied loose ends (and not all of them, either!)All of this being said, I loved the world Ms Hunter created. I always appreciate when authors take a recycled story and make something new out of it.There are a couple of mildly graphic sex scenes, for those who like to know these things upfront. Will I be reading the next book in the series? Most probably. There's a character mentioned once or twice in this book that I read should be the main character of the next one, and I was really curious about him (though I was also hoping for a Blaez/Kira story.)So yeah, I'd recommend it, just don't put everything else on hold to read it.Oh, and look at that gorgeous cover! So pretty.

After being banished from his world Aethan was sent to earth and made a warrior to defend humans from demonii. He encounters Echo just after she kills one of these demonii and it's on from there. The book has so much depth and so many layers that I want to start a book club to discuss it. I enjoyed the heated romance between Echo and Aethan which sizzled in the beginning and eventually burned white hot (he he he- read the book to understand my mirth). Their relationship was strong, if not rocky. But as with all good romances, the HEA ending made me sigh.Georgia's writing style is very descriptive. She is able to set the worlds she has created in your mind's eye. I wish I could say I enjoyed travelling to hell, but no I did not, as was her intention. The fight scenes were fantastic. I'm a fight scene affectionado and hers were smooth. And when the sword came from... sorry no spoilers here, but it was so cool. The conversations were witty and engaging, making me chuckle at points. The fact that these huge tough warriors also had a sweet tooth made me laugh.I absolutely love a strong female heroine and Echo did not disappoint. She had a bad upbringing, but was able to fight instead of giving into the harshness of life. I liked that. One thing I didn't like about her was that she didn't always make the best decisions. That annoyed me, but not enough to stay angry with her for too long. I know the story needed the drama of her bad judgment, and this got me further into the book.Georgia should not keep me waiting for a sequel. I fell in love with all of the warriors and want to read each of their stories, like yesterday. If you want a book full of action, romance up to your elbows, with some fantastic descriptive writing, then Absolute Surrender is for you.

I've already started the next book in the series, Echo Mine, and will want the next one after that. This book is longer, which was perfect for me. We get to see more details and this world that Georgia Lynn Hunter created gets to be more fleshed out and real for the reader. Nothing was overdone or felt drawn out. The characters are awesome and complex and we get to see them unfold and deal with what's happening and see the changes that take place. This book is long enough for this to happen and for the secondary characters to be complex as well. We don't get to see all of them, that will come when they get their books, but we see enough to feel the complexity of their characters and to be hooked to them. This is a very well written story that flows really well and has a really good pace. Nothing is rushed or too slow. There is plenty of action to keep your attention and keep you hooked to the story needing to know what's going to happen next. There is a lot of sexual tension and the sex is explicit. This added to the story for me because of the relationship that was there. It all fit into the story and fit the characters that were created so it wasn't sex just to have sex in the book. It was very well done. This story and this world are amazing and I really can't wait for the rest of the characters to get their stories. There's so many possibilities and I can't wait to see where Georgia Lynn Hunter takes us. I would definitely recommend this book. It's worth it.I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
