Review This justly famous novel has been a secret bestseller for a hundred years. -- Herald TribuneTruly remarkableall the pleasure of fine historical fiction combined with the most intimate descriptions of explicit lovemaking. -- The Times

About the Author The Romance of Lust, or Early Experiences is a Victorian erotic novel written anonymously in four volumes during the years 1873–1876 and published by William Lazenby. Henry Spencer Ashbee discusses this novel in one of his bibliographies of erotic literature. In addition the compilers of British Museum General Catalogue of Printed Books list this book.

I believe it was this first admiration of the really exquisitely formed legs, ankles and feet, which were extraordinarily perfect in make, that first awakened my passion for those objects, which have since always exercised a peculiar charm over me. She was also so particularly neat in her shoes--little dark ones--that were bijoux to look at, I often took them up and kissed them, when left in the room. Then her silk stockings, always drawn up tight and fitting like a glove, set off to the greatest advantage the remarkable fine shape of her legs.

WOW By Rudolf Spoerer Hitting the scales at over 500 pages the connosoire of Victorian erotica will absolutely read every single page probably over and over again ...... This book, first published as four volumes, is now generally reprinted as one book with all four volumes .. For those readers that have a proclivity to enjoy coming of age books as told by a young man than this is the best of all Victorian examples I have ever devoured....A fifteen year old Charlie Roberts he manages to witness a recently married houseguest, Mrs. Benson, in the thoes of sex with her husband. The little voyeur is soon discovered by the newlywed, and, instead of becoming outraged and immediately snitching on his parents, Mrs. B swears Charlie to keep 'their secret' and she will 'reward him' for his silence. Well let me tell you what a deviously delicious reward it was, and, she went out of her way to reward Charlie over and over..... Matter of fact, she introduced Charlie to her friend and she also rewarded him over and over ......Our hero, very quickly decides to spread his newfound knowledge with his two younger sisters and, feigning innocence, allows himself to be seduced by two successive live-in governesses, one of which he actually impregnates......Charlie's appetite for the erotic and sexual becomes voracious as he managed to either seduce, or let himself be seduced, by practically anyone that comes within his grasp, including, of course, (it is after all Victorian erotic lit) his mother .... Male and female alike fall under his spell one way or another ....I can't imagine much under the norms either eroticism or sexuality that isn't described in the most delicious and intimate detail in this book so it's easy to understand why repeated print runs, over the past 40 years alone, have been bought by Grove Press, Caroll & Graf, Masquarade Books and now in 2002 a new edition by Blue Moon to be relased in June. If the past sales are any indication, this edition will sell out fast as well and will also be treasured as keepsaked for those naughtiest of moments to read alone ....

It details the sexual adventures of Charlie, who at age 15 is initiated into the arts of love by an older woman staying with his family. After recieving his training, Charlie then goes on to initiate both his sisters, and their Governess Miss Evelyn, (Whom Charlie impregnates) into the sexual arts before moving out into the world to find further sexual adventures. Very well written, with a nice flow to it, this book is a must for any true conesuir of 19th century erotic literature.

A woman says this book is truly wonderful By Betelnut Don't listen to the person who describes this book as containing abusive content--that is simply not true! There are some scenes of very mild spanking, etc., but participants are willing and eager. I think one of the reasons this erotic novel is so popular (besides the sheer number of pages describing every type of sex you can imagine!) is that our hero seems to genuinely love and respect the women (and men) that he cavorts with! He loves the hairy legs and large stomachs of the women (both young and old) and enjoys the differences between his female and male lovers. There is true affection between all the participants. There is very explicit content--no doubt--and on practically every page too! But it is consistently entertaining and stimulating~!As a woman, I can say that I love this book!

Best PDF Ebook MIRABILIS: A Carnival of Cryptozoology and Unnatural History, by Karl P.N. Shuker

Welcome to a carnival unlike anything that you have ever read about, visited, or even imagined before. Here, before your very eyes, you will encounter bizarre, anomalous creatures of every conceivable (and inconceivable!) kind--a veritable menagerie of cryptozoological mysteries to dazzle and delight, tantalize and terrify. For this is Mirabilis--a realm of marvels, wonders, miracles...and monsters!

Peer through the shadows and see what you may. Was that scuttling horror a spider the size of a puppy? Did that fallen tree trunk suddenly sprout a pair of alligator jaws? Was that a living toad that leapt out of that split-asunder block of stone? Did those flowers abruptly put forth wings and fly away as tiny birds?

Behold Trunko, the hairy marine elephant-bear that supposedly battled whales off the coast of South Africa almost a century ago. Look around in every direction and witness the very last giant lemurs brought to you from the rainforests of Madagascar, the very same unicorn that was once encountered by Julius Caesar, dinosaur-sized crocodiles from the swamps of the Congo, the elephantine harpoon-tusked sukotyro of Sumatra, gargantuan prehistoric beavers resurrected in modern-day North America, illusive Germanic horned hares and elusive Liberian micro-squirrels, a giant sea snail with antlers and paws from the Sarmatian Sea and a veritable whale-fish from a forgotten Swedish lake, a vanished striped mystery steed from Iberia, enormous toothless freshwater sharks from South America, flying turtles from China and a hippoturtleox from Tibet, sea dragons and pseudo-pterodactyls, and the world's only known tusked megalopedus.

Let us not tarry even a moment longer. The miracles and marvels of Mirabilis await you.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Fascinating stuff By Tartarus The main reason Karl Shuker is my favourite author of cryptozoology is that how he writes a lot about cryptids that are not so well known, thus giving them some well deserved time in the spotlight. And whenever I thought I'd heard about just about every cryptid there is to hear about, one of Shuker's books will come along and show me something I'd not heard about previously. And this book is no exception. Some of the contents of the book is rather familiar such as the phenomenon of toads trapped in rocks, but there is also much I was not so familiar with. My personal favourite chapters were the one about about giant spiders and the one about crocodilian cryptids. Though I'd heard a bit about giant spiders before (including in one of Karl Shuker's other books, Extraordinary Animals Revisited), this book provided more info about the topic than I'd heard more. And I'd not heard much about crocodilian cryptids until I'd read this book.I also rather liked how there was an entire chapter on mystery creatures of Madagascar. I was particularly intrigued by the idea that the legend of the roc could have been inspired by the Malagasy crowned eagle (actually not a cryptid but an enormous extinct eagle confirmed to have existed), who may have preyed on Madagascar's elephant birds similarly to how New Zealand's Haast's eagle preyed on the moas. The only real disappointment about this book was that it could have been longer. Apart from that, I really enjoyed this book. If you are interested in cryptozoology, then this is a great book to have.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Only the best from Karl Shuker By Tim Morris This book is yet another memorable and informative title in Dr Shuker's cryptozoology books. We are treated to information about many cryptids, based on the kind of animal they may be, from crocodiles, to turtles, and rodents. Also, a section on Madagascar, thoroughly updated, not only gives us clues about cryptids, but possible links to the life appearance and habits of recently extinct primates from Africa's biggest island. There are shades of his infamous and much savored "romantic zoology", where he treats animal oddities and myths with equal footing, in this case, we learn about the toad-stone phenomenon, the Christian myths of British fossils, and a even a fish that became a pearl! The saga of "trunko" is elucidated in detail, a true success story in cryptozoology, and a mystery solved. The section on solved crypto mysteries and misconceptions, is great too.I must say, that whilst this book is thinner than some of his other books, it is packed with information, and well worth your time and money. Look out for the great illustrations by myself and Markus Buhler in this book also. I would even go as far as to say that, among his crypto and romantic zoology books, this is one of my new favorites.5 stars for a very stimulating book, well done.Timothy Morris BVA BVC

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Fantastic zoology By ollb Giant turtles, beavers, crocodiles, and much else . . . I grant only about a .0001 chance any of this is true and accurate but it is fun to read about and to think “what if . . .” On the favorable side, the author retains (for the most part) a skeptical viewpoint and presents reasons why the mystery beasts are unlikely to exist as well as the evidence (tales, mostly) in their favor.

There's tons of online courses, workshops and articles on being a producer, but this one succinctly puts film school into one book. It also adds life experience and general knowledge that one would struggle with, and now I feel like instead of wasting time researching stuff, I can finish my projects!

Broadway is easy. Crossing an eccentric billionaire is what's hard. Jeffrey Rothstein discovers this in the dark comedy The Queen and I, about a Broadway playwright who makes one bad decision and then has his life forever changed in the most supernatural way. With the help of the ghost of a 1920s drag queen, Jeffrey sets out to write the next big Broadway hit, while unknowingly being hunted by a sadistic madman with musical aspirations of his own. Russell Andresen was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, in a mostly Jewish neighborhood where he developed his love of Jewish humor. He worked at the World Trade Center for fourteen years, surviving the attacks of 9/11. He left the excitement of the city and moved to the Southeast where he studied culinary arts at Le Cordon Bleu and graduated with honors. His first novel, Are You Kosher? Memoirs of a Jewish Vampire, was released in 2010 to great reviews from Amazon and Goodreads. Publisher;s website: http://sbprabooks.com/RussellAndresen

Two Gentlemen of Verona is a comedy by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written between 1589 and 1592. It is considered by some to be Shakespeare's first play, and is often seen as showing his first tentative steps in laying out some of the themes and motifs with which he would later deal in more detail; for example, it is the first of his plays in which a heroine dresses as a boy. The play deals with the themes of friendship and infidelity, the conflict between friendship and love, and the foolish behaviour of people in love. The highlight of the play is considered by some to be Launce, the clownish servant of Proteus, and his dog Crab, to whom "the most scene-stealing non-speaking role in the canon" has been attributed.

It seems in the last scene that shakespeare just wanted to finish the play and therefore everything happens in a few pages that makes it a little unrealistic. The play does have some lovely speeches though, and is quite comical and an easy story to follow.

A comedy like all the others By Garrett Zecker Inspiring all of his other comedies that basically fit into the exact same plot structure and storyline, TWO GENTLEMEN is a fun, predictable romp through Verona's streets. As with all of his other romcoms, Shakespeare sets out to tell a tale of misplaced love, unwanted affection, crossdressing, and simple twists of fate that lead our characters astray, and then together once more by the end. There is a silly villain, letters that never reach their intended, and disguises, all coming together to build comedy using situational and dramatic irony.I read this as an undergraduate in college, and found it to be fun, but now as an adult and having read all of Shakespeare's works (and even other author's interpretations of Shakespeare's work such as The Tragedy of Arthur and Macbeth II: The Seed Of Banquo) I find the work to be mediocre and predictable. That isn't to say it isn't good - but as the Reduced Shakespeare Company says, "Why Did You Write Sixteen Comedies, When You Could've Written Just 1?"It's true. This play is the same as TAMING, MIDSUMMER, MERRY WIVES, and others (well, not really the Tempest - but none of his plays are like the Tempest), and it really is the formulaic inspiration that is copied in the other comedy texts. It is effective in one major place - the fact that it made Mr. Shakespeare money, and he was well aware of what his audiences liked. That is not to say it is a bad play - it isn't at all. There are some genuinely funny places in it (my favorite, "...but you are so without these follies that these follies are within you, and shine through you like the water in an urinal"). I suppose it is the grand application of the man's works that include the comedies that so uncannily resemble one another that makes readers of Shakespeare like me scratch his head. Change the location and the character names and a couple events? New title, new play. But it is a fun story, and I would have loved to see this and all the others performed in London in 1595, regardless. Would I still have the complete works as my only book on a desert island? You bet. Would I resent the comedies a little after 20 years on this desert island, though? Maybe, but I would still have the great tragedies and histories to keep me company.

I am trying to become "well read" by self education.According to my studies, it is generally believed that this is an early work of Shakespeare, maybe his first "comedy" and maybe his first play. It is seldom performed. And for me, reading Shakespeare is not as enjoyable as watching a good performance. If it is correct that this is an early Shakespeare play, and I think that it is, one of the most valuable aspects of the play is reading it and comparing it to his later work. There is a gentleman named Harold Bloom who writes about literature. Mr. Bloom has observed if one reads an early Shakespeare play and compare it to some of his contemporaries, such as Christopher Marlowe, Shakespeare is more or less just another decent playwright. I have followed Mr. Bloom's advice and done this. I agree with Mr. Bloom.Shakespeare evolves and emerges as a unique playwright in later plays. I think that is why an early play like this is seldom performed. I mean, when is the last time you saw a performance of a play by Christerpher Marlowe? Anyway this, to me, is the true value of Two Gentlemen of Verona. Also, this play is classified as a "comedy". This does not mean this is slapstick such as a prime time network sitcom. As best I can tell it means the play has a happy ending. There are parts of this play that makes me cringe. I have read several Shakespeare "comedies". I have never read one that did not make me cringe at some point.Shakespeare also seems to write stories that trivialize women. That may have been normal at this time in history, despite the fact that the ruler of England was Queen Elizabeth I. It is suspected that Shakespeare was involved in an unhappy marriage. I do not know if this affected his writing or he just wrote what he thought would sell. Perhaps it is a little of both.In summary, I can't say as I have heard of anyone who feels this is their favorite Shakespeare play. It is not mine. But it definitely has its place in any in depth Shakespeare study. Thank You.

Villainy and Treachery-- Richard III tells of the story of how Richard steals the kingdom from his young nephew after the death of his brother Edward. There is much murder and treachery until Richmond leads a revolt against Richard. Now is the winter of our discontent Made glorious summer by this sun of York; And all the clouds that lour'd upon our house In the deep bosom of the ocean buried.

Feinman This edition has one of the best introductions I've read: informative, well-written and with photos from productions of R III. Just the section on Macbeth and Richard makes this top-notch. Even the Folio/Quarto stuff is interesting -- short and not pedantic. This is my choice for Richard III edition.

By meiringen Stephens is a bit much as Richard (does he have to yell so often?) but the supporting cast, with Michael York in a multitude of roles, Dame Peggy Ashcroft as Margaret, Glenda Jackson as Lady Anne and Jeremy Brett as the Earl of Clarence (for once, the part is done right--Brett comes off as believable, not as a whiny brat as in many portrayals) is fantastic. Unabridged, as another reviewer noted, and digitally remastered, this recording is the best I've come across so far. Highly recommended!

Good copy By Amoeba I bought this book because while we had covered Richard II and Henry IV (Pt. 1) in my Shakespeare class, we did not read Richard III (my prof. just wasn't a huge fan). I love Shakespeare's history plays, and the discovery of Richard III's body sparked my interest. The copy is quality, contains plenty of footnotes (and a lengthy introduction) for a student or someone new to Shakespeare. The translation is good. I like the story even though I know some people that find it too far fetched in a few aspects. After all, this is a Shakespeare play...it's not made to be accurate or realistic. It's made to please the monarch and the monarch's censors. The only downside is that sometimes there are so many notes on a page that there's very little play text. It's similar to what happens with study KJV Bibles, or study copies of almost anything written in middle or early-modern English. So, excellent for a student or someone that likes those extra notes, but if you're adept when it comes to Shakespeare or are used to reading works in early-modern English, then it may be cumbersome for you. Personally, I liked all the notes because I'm out of college, and without them I'd have to google anything I needed some context on. They're also nice for lending to others.
