About the Author
Australian-born David Wills is an author, independent curator, photographic preservationist, and editor who has accrued one of the world's largest independent archives of original photographs, negatives, and transparencies. He has contributed material to many publications and museums, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Phoenix Art Museum, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Wills has produced a series of photography exhibitions based on images from his archive. His shows include Murder, Models, Madness: Photographs from the Motion Picture Blow-Up; Edie Sedgwick: Unseen Photographs of a Warhol Superstar; Blonde Bombshell; James Bond; Women with Issues: Photographs from the Motion Picture Valley of the Dolls; and Warhology.
Wills's books include Ara Gallant; Marilyn Monroe: Metamorphosis; Audrey: The 60s; Hollywood in Kodachrome; and Seventies Glamour. He is also the co-author of Veruschka.
His books and exhibitions have received major profiles in the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, Vanity Fair, American Photo, Vogue, Interview, and Time. He has also written articles on photography and popular culture for publications including the Huffington Post, V Magazine, and Palm Springs Life.

It's basically a cross between Wills' "Metamophosis" and Stacy Eubank's "Holding A Good Thought."This book tracks Marilyn's life from her beginnings as a cover girl to her last public appearance at Dodger stadium through photos, covers, and clippings. Really a must have for any Marilyn fan!My only complaint is that it's not longer. It will suck you in and make you wish for 500 more pages. The pictures are masterfully restored and there are some rare ones! I know what I'll be buying my Marilyn friends for Christmas!

There are some photos that we are all familiar with but there are tons more that haven't been seen anywhere before, and I should know since I have almost every Marilyn photo book ever printed.There is a minimum of text (20 page intro) so it is just page after page of glorious color as well as black and white photos and magazine covers. I highly recommend this book for all Marilyn fans.

Which is the perfect way to describe this beautiful new book, 'Marilyn In The Flash', by David Wills.This is the story of Marilyn's two longest love affairs - the press and the camera! It's an amazing assortment of press photos, clippings and restored images of classic images and rare unpublished shots that haven't been seen in print form before.It begins at the Blue Book years and Marilyn's success as a photographer's model through to the film and weekly magazines that ran stories and pin-ups of her as a starlet, which helped to popularise her before her film career took off. Each page is evidenced with memorabila and press and publicity stills in a chronological order which presents a visual documentation of her rise to fame and beyond; to her last film appearances on the ill-fated, Something's Got To Give, which she never lived to finish.No detail is spared as we see Marilyn on her travels to Japan, England and Mexico. Her marriages to DiMaggio and Miller are covered as well as her film premiers and award ceremony appearances. If the press were there then it's documented here, along with the press captions for each photo, giving the book a real vinatge scrapbook look.The quality is exceptional, as you would expect from David Wills, as his other books testify and this one is surely the best one yet. The photos are crystal clear, even the old vintage magazine covers and articles are re-produced so well that they look much better than they ever did due to all the love and care and attention to detail.This book is essential to any Marilyn Monroe fan or collecter and just anyone who may have heard her name and wanted to explore her more. With the recent 'Before Marilyn, The Blue Book Modelling Years' still fresh in my mind, this book is the perfect companion as it shows us what came after those formative years, covered so brilliantly by Michelle Morgan and Astrid Franse in their book from a few months ago.
